Sawyer® Water Filters use hollow fiber membrane filters. Our filters are made of tiny "U" shaped hoses that allow the water to enter into their middle core through tiny micro pores. The micro pores on the biological filter are so small that NO bacteria, protozoa, or cysts; E. Coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium can get through. In fact, at 7 log (99.99999%) / 6 log (99.9999%) this is the highest level of filtration available today, and yet it is so easy to drink out of due to the large amount of hoses.
