Scout Personal First Aid Kit
New mandates from the BSA Risk Management and Health and Safety Services have mandated an update in the published kit. Sawyer® has designed a kit (unassembled) that allows the scout to purchase and assemble it himself.
We have included items that go beyond the recommended kit such as additional
adhesive bandages, tweezers, Doc Forgey’s comprehensive and easy-to-understand first aid manual and a zippered nylon pouch with belt loops.

New BSA Health and Safety Committee Directives on Bug Safety:
Permethrin on clothing and gear and an insect repellent containing DEET should be used on exposed skin surfaces when mosquitoes are present. Controlled release and composite formulations of DEET can be very effective in concentrations of 12 to 20 percent I.E. Sawyer Controlled Release, but otherwise, 30 to 35 percent DEET concentrations are the most appropriate for use in high-density mosquito zones.
